About Us

MABSSCO has been around for more than 37 years.  During the last few years we have worked hard to rebuild and renew our physical plant and our programs.  We promise that you will find an envigorated MABSSCO ready to work with young people, families, referring agents and their Community Treatment Teams to make a difference in the lives of our young people and in the quality of our community.

MABSSCO (Mid-American Baptist Social Service Corporation) was created in 1971 to serve youth and families through residential programs. Today we provide both residential and community services.  We are a trusted, flexible, and responsive partner in providing caring and effective professional services. We incorporate research-based methods in our work and use restorative practices, the Signs of Safety framework and other approaches to reach effective outcomes with youth and families.

MABSSCO works in the community to make our families and communities stronger.

MABSSCO values a service structure that gets results with clients and meets referring agency expectations. Referring agencies want us to focus on achieving placement critical goals with clients. (Placement critical means those goals or issues that require a particular out-of-home placement as opposed to nonresidential services.) To help us achieve these results, we incorporate feedback on our work from a variety of sources including satisfaction surveys, meetings and informal contacts. Programs identify key outcomes and our success in achieving them is evaluated regularly.

MABSSCO began as a ministry of the Mid-American Baptist Churches (www.mid-abc.org/). We engage in this work because we believe in the possibility of transformation. We believe that positive outcomes for young people and families, even lifelong changes, can occur with a respectful, restorative and structured approach to our partnership with them.

MABSSCO is a member of the American Baptist Homes and Caring Ministries (www.nationalministries.org/mission/abhha/) and the Minnesota Council of Nonprofits (www.mncn.org).  MABSSCO residential programs are licensed by the Minnesota Department of Corrections under Minnesota Rule 2960 as Group Residential Facilities certified to provide Corrections Services and to use restrictive procedures.

We have offices and programs in Shakopee, MN and Victoria, MN, and we serve clients primarily from the Twin Cities Metro area and from greater Minnesota.

See our Services page for a description of our staff, programs we offer, and the key outcomes we expect from service provision. Contact us to discuss how we can work with you and your clients or you or your family.
